Membership Eligibility

Memberships are restricted to the chief lawyer (e.g., General Counsel, Chief Legal Officer, or Director of Legal Affairs) and all in-house senior managing counsel who have significant leadership and management responsibility, which includes:

  1. Leading a major functional area (e.g., litigation, securities, intellectual property),
  2. Serving as a lead attorney for a major business unit, or
  3. Supervising one or more lawyers.

Members must hold full-time positions under their title, and must be solely employed by a corporation, non-profit, or government agency.

Currently In Transition?
The Forum extends membership to general and managing counsel who have recently left their company and are seeking employment as a general or managing counsel. They may extend their existing Forum membership or become a Forum member as an In Transition General Counsel (ITGC) for up to 18 months from commencement of transition. Whilst in transition, the ITGC Member receives all of the benefits of an individual membership, with the exception of free attendance to Annual Conference.

Member Benefits

  • Annual Conference – Our two-day Annual Conference, typically held in Austin or San Antonio in November, is designed to encourage conversation and inspire professional advancement through a series of short, dynamic presentations from industry leaders and networking events. Each year, the topic of the Conference centers around leadership with over 250 members in attendance. The Annual Conference fee is included in the yearly membership dues.
  • Chapter Quarterly Program Events – Four Quarterly Program Events are held in-person in each chapter city. These Quarterly Programs address crucial best practice issues and offer insight into current topics facing the in-house legal community.
  • Statewide Virtual CLE Programs – In consultation with our Virtual Programming Committee, Forum Gold Underwriters host Virtual CLE Programs on current topics relevant to our members who receive CLE credits while staying connected to our legal community. Members have access to our private library of all recorded CLE programs and materials through our password protected web page to view for CLE credit at their convenience.
