Virtual CLE Program: Integrating Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance in Corporate Practice – The Role of Counsel

1.00 Hr Ethics CLE Pending

The Forum and Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP invite you to join us for a Virtual Ethics CLE Program. Stakeholders at every level increasingly expect a company to demonstrate a strong commitment to Environmental, Social & Corporate Governance (ESG) through its business practices. Promotion of ESG principles supports ethical management of valuable resources, including human capital. Responsibility for drafting and updating dynamic ESG-related policies, as well as overseeing implementation and compliance of mandatory disclosure and voluntary reporting is a small, but important, facet of the in-house counsel’s role. Counsel’s holistic perspective across an organization allows insight into legal risk associated with making, measuring, upholding and communicating ESG commitments. Involvement of the general counsel and staff is essential to manage corporate risk. This discussion will offer some principles for good ESG practices from a legal perspective.
