Parent, affiliate, and dissolved entities are often named as defendants even when they have no factual or legal connection to the claims at issue. This CLE focuses on several jurisdictional and procedural issues under federal and various state laws that must be carefully considered when this occurs, including service of process and deciding whether, when and how to respond on behalf of entities that should have never been named in the suit and may no longer even exist.
