DFW Quarterly Program
Texas General Counsel Forum invites you to join us for our Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter’s Quarterly Program on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at the Northwood Club featuring Brittany K. Barnett and moderated by Mark Curriden of The Texas Lawbook. Brittany excelled as a CPA at PricewaterhouseCoopers, a banking and finance lawyer at Winstead and an associate general counsel handling mergers and acquisitions at ORIX. But those were mere stops in a journey that has led Brittany to be one of the nation’s most respected advocates for social justice in America. She has worked with three presidents — Obama, Trump and Biden — to secure clemency for two-dozen clients. Through her nonprofit organization, the Buried Alive Project, she has helped win the release of more than 70 individuals serving lengthy — sometimes life prison sentences. She has worked with law firms such as Sidley Austin, Akin Gump and Katten and corporate legal departments such as J.P. Morgan Chase. Her nonprofit Manifest Freedom has provided $620,000 in investment grants to help those impacted by the criminal justice system. On May 20, attendees can hear Brittany’s extraordinary story that led her to social entrepreneurialism and receive a signed copy of her critically-acclaimed book A Knock at Midnight.
