About

The Robert H. Dedman Award for Ethics & Law Dinner was established in 2001 to honor the late Robert H. Dedman for his commitment to leadership and ethics. Each year, the Dallas-Ft. Worth Chapter selects an individual whose dedication to business ethics, communication and management practices has distinguished them amongst their peers. Since its inception, the corresponding award dinner has raised thousands of dollars for the Forrest Smith General Counsel Forum Scholarship Fund. Individual scholarships are presented to deserving students at SMU Dedman School of Law.

This year’s Dedman Award recipient will be honored at the 24th Annual Dedman Award Dinner on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at the Arts District Mansion.

Nomination Guidelines

  • Nominee must have:
    1. during his or her legal career, been employed in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex by a company, organization or governmental agency, and made significant contributions to the company, organization or governmental agency;
    2. been a Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel or held a comparable senior position in another organization or governmental agency; and
    3. at least five (5) years of legal experience.

Nominees do not need to be a member of the Forum. Please be certain information given on nomination is completely accurate. Press releases and recipient biographies may be prepared from this nomination.
