What is Necessary to Establish and Maintain a Chapter

With more than a decade establishing and building chapters, we have discovered what we believe are the five critical elements.
 

1.  A passionate and prominent general counsel from a top-tier corporation in the chapter city.

2.  A critical mass of general counsel and managing counsel in the chapter city.

3.  A culture or desire among the area general counsel and managing counsel for networking and sharing best practice discoveries.

4.  Underwriter support—several large law firms or legal product and service providers who will join in governing the chapter, help underwrite the chapter's finances, provide support in recruiting new members, and provide programming support for chapter events.
