New Texas General Counsel Forum CEO 



DALLAS, July 26, 2005 - Lee M. Emery has been named chief executive officer for the Texas General Counsel Forum (Forum), the state’s premier professional association for legal department leaders.

Emery will be based in San Antonio and administer the Forum’s daily operations, and oversee membership services and sponsor development through meaningful opportunities for peer group interaction, professional development education, and promoting best practices, ethics, governance and compliance.

Emery has more than 30 years’ experience working in management and marketing positions within corporations, trade associations, the federal government, and non-profits.  For 15 years, he recruited law firm partners and practice groups for Washington, D.C. , law firms and law firm branch offices.  Before joining the Forum, the new chief executive officer was the administrative executive for one of the largest churches in the U.S.

Prior to moving to San Antonio , Emery served on the executive committee and the board of New Hope Housing, Inc., the principal provider of services to the homeless in Fairfax County, Va. , and has held a number of offices in youth athletic and church associations.

Craig Glidden, the president of the Forum’s board, said “Lee Emery is a proven executive leader who will take the Forum’s already impressive record of accomplishment to a new level of distinction.”  “Lawyers practicing in corporate legal departments have substantial impact on the business and legal communities in the State of Texas and beyond and the Forum’s efforts to promote professionalism and collegiality among the leaders of this important group will be enhance by Mr. Emery’s leadership”, Glidden said.

He is married to N. Beth Emery, who is senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of CPS Energy in San Antonio, the nation’s largest municipally owned energy company providing both electric and gas service.  They have two children: Paul, a rising second year at the University of Virginia , and Kate, a rising sophomore at Alamo Heights High School.
